Day Twenty-Four: Peace

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” ( ) NKJV 14:27 John

W ith Jesus, peace was a commodity that could be given. When He walked into a room that was chaotic, his very presence would calm the atmosphere and bring an expectation of something good. When He and the disciples were on a boat in the midst of a storm, Jesus was in the back of the boat asleep. His disciples woke him asking, "don't you care that we're gonna die? Jesus, simply spoke to the wind and the waves, "peace, be still," and they obeyed him. Wouldn’t it be nice to have that kind of peace? Remember, Jesus said "My peace I give to you." He instructed His disciples when they were out preaching the gospel and healing the sick to let 'their peace' rest upon the house that welcomed them. This was before the Spirit came upon themwith power on the day of Pentecost. Jesus was teaching His disciples it’s possible to have access to this kind of peace. Several years ago, I was in a storm, a leadership storm. It was one of the biggest storms and greatest challenges of my life. My church leadership team and I hit a major roadblock of disagreement. We tried over and over to find a place of unity but were unable. There’s a lot I could say about why and how all this happened, but it’s not my intent to cast blame on anyone. We each had our own reasons for the decisions we made. All I can do is take responsibility for my poor choices
