When we see Jesus reiterate this same information He replaces apostle with “wise men.”

Matthew 23:34 “T herefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, ” Many believe that when He mentions scribes, He is referring to the ministry of teacher. Figuratively we can see the long suits of these ministries put to use in building the house of God. Proverbs 24:3 “ Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; 4 By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches .” Apostles and prophets are the foundational ministries of the New Testament Church. As they work together all other ministries are called, established and commissioned. Apostles and prophets working together can uncover those things which are not working according to God’s plan, those things which are out of God’s order, and work to put these things back into order. Apostles who work with prophets will see an increase in their prophetic vision. Prophets who work with apostles will see their patience expanded and their governmental mantle expanded. Pastors, teachers and evangelists who are in relationship with apostles and prophets will see their ministries established upon lasting foundations, increasing upward in relationship with the Lord, and outward in relationship to the ever-expanding Kingdom.
