Awaken The Dawn
The Glorious Climax: Cries from the Cross (for any length of time) without involving God’s Word, particularly Psalms. The marvelous way in which the Psalms pour spontaneously from His lips testify of their careful use in years of personal devotion and training. It was as though the cross was the high accomplishment for which every morning of prayer had prepared Him. Father, Into Thy Hands His last words on the cross are confident and vibrant, “Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit” 9 He has com- pleted the task given by the Father. He does not cry out, “ I am finished!” No, instead He declares, “ It is finished!” A glorious surge of fulfillment and sense of victory whelms up within Him. That which has been a daily prayer for personal needs and sustenance, now becomes the ultimate experience of dependency on God. He dies a victor! Although wounded and forsaken by men, He who dies from the serpent biting His heel crush- es with that same heel the awful head of sin. With His death, Death died. Having done all, He commits Himself into the Father’s hands, the ultimate act of faith of Jesus who is the supreme example of prayer.
