In the days of His flesh, he offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.

Deep Insight Concept 8. Through prayer, Jesus gained deep insight into: (1) the character and will of God, (2) the limitations of human nature, and (3) the character and strategies of His adversary, Satan. Amazing wisdom is the reward of pray-reading the Bible. Not only do we come closer to the literal, original mean- ing of the book, but we also perceive exciting truths which we can apply to our personal lives. Pray-reading the Psalms over an extended period of time can have a revolutionary effect on a person. The character of God, the attributes of God, the ways of God—all become so wonderfully real. Another benefit is to see the futility of man’s efforts. Our limitations are part of God’s plan to make us dependent on Him. This is not meant to rob us of our self esteem, but to show us that our fulfillment lies in allowing the Almighty to be God of all. Prayer brought to Jesus the absolute certainty of Satan’s demise.
