We can easily imagine how differently and ineffectively Jesus could have lived had He aborted His prayer life. The life of prayer is within our reach, for the Master taught us to seek first. One day I asked a group of people gathered for early morning prayer in our church sanctuary whether they ever got discouraged about com- ing for prayer. I was not prepared for their resounding endorsements! They have found, just as I have, that start- ing the day with prayer is a priority that must not be given up.
